(More customer reviews)When our beloved 30 year old (from dorm days!) toaster oven died, we thought we'd go buy one just like it -- basic, small, good at toasting, yet usable as a small oven. Alas, nobody seemed to make anything like it. They tended to be larger, and didn't do a good job toasting bread.
After reading lost of discouraging reviews and trying a couple of toaster ovens, we had just about given up, when we saw the Toastation. What a great little unit! Makes great toast, nice and fast like a toaster should (through a slot in the top). Then flip a switch, and the top slot closes and it turns into a nice little oven.
It doesn't hog the whole counter (outside dimensions: 15" wide, 7 1/2 deep, and 8 high). The inside of the oven is small (6 1/2" deep by 10 1/2" wide by 2" high), so don't plan on baking pizza in it.

Save on counter space with this two-in-one appliance. The unit functions as both a traditional toaster and as a toaster oven. As a toaster, it provides a 1-1/2-inch-wide toasting slot that can fit up to two slices of bread, two frozen waffles, or two halves of a bagel or English muffin. Simply drop in the item to be toasted, adjust the shade setting by turning the control knob, and push down the lever on the side. A convenient "cancel" button stops the toasting at any time. (More customer reviews)Great little toaster oven w/ lots of options. Possesses wide range of ability - from making toast to baking muffins. The rounded back side of the toaster oven allows for a 9" frozen pizza to be cooked within. Great thinking. Controls are simple, and easy to understand. A superior value for the money.
Room for improvement (reason for 4 stars/not 5):
1. The timer is loud - not obnoxiously so, but one is aware that the oven is on.
2. The design of the handle/glass door. Be very careful when opening the oven door! It is all too easy to touch part of the very hot glass door (burns!) when using the front handle. If you are aware of this - and are careful, is not a problem. Would not want children using this appliance for this reason.

(More customer reviews)these tongs are very cheapo, and they don't look like the picture. The photo looks like a nice set of full size thongs. Plus mine were glued slightly crooked so the tips don't meet. Other than that, nice for picking up small items, but NOT BACON!

(More customer reviews)Even the best toaster needs help, and these tongs provide a lot. They are well-designed, proportioned, and safe. The wood can be safely used to reach into the toaster slots to pull out the English muffin, and the magnet is placed perfectlyl to cling to the side of a range hood.
This is one of the few gadgets for which I'll make room in my kitchen.

(More customer reviews)I didn't even know there was supposed to be a magnet in the tongs until I read the other review. I just bought mine and they must have taken it out. Anyways, mine work great. I'm constantly having to unplug my toaster and use a fork to get the toast out, so I bought these. I never knew I would be so thankful for a little gadget. They really do work! Not perfectly, but they work and for the price, I'll definitely get my use out of them!

(More customer reviews)This is a great little toast rack. It is simple and solid. It's perfect for when you want to dress up a breakfast table, or when feeding a crowd. It is a little wide, so if you are using a standard loaf of American bread the toast may slip into the interior area and sit at a slant, but it isn't much of an issue. If you are in the market for a toast rack, this is a good buy.

Proctor Silex 22608Y Cool-Wall Toaster Review

(More customer reviews)I've tried several toasters that were substantially more expensive and have determined that this basic, no frills Proctor Silex does a much better job of toasting bread. In fact I've done lots of research and have learned that all of the button functions on more expensive toasters are actually not necessary. For example: Cancel Button - not necessary, you simply lift up the lever to stop the toasting. Defrost Button - not necessary, all it does is lengthen the toasting time, so all you need to do is turn up the shade selector which does the exact same thing. Reheat Button - not necessary, just turn down the shade selector to the light setting and it will warm previously toasted bread without over-browning it. Bagel Button - there are 2 types of bagel functions out there, one toasts just one side of the bagel (which I don't like), and the other type toasts both sides and extends the toasting time (my preference). So for a bagel just turn up the shade selector which will extend the toasting time.

Having said all of this, I highly recommend the Proctor Silex 22608. It toasts bread evenly, and when using 2 slices, both sides of the bread are fairly uniform. It's versatile too as the slots adjust well for thin bread, thicker bread, english muffins, small bagels, and even larger bagels fit easily. Another nice feature is that it uses just 1 moving guide in each slot to keep the bread vertical. As a result the bread is not pinched together tightly between 2 metal guides so there are less grooves and white lines on the sides of the bread when it's done. It almost looks like it was done in a toaster oven. And the chrome cabinet with black side trim looks great on the kitchen counter.
I read where Consumer Reports rated this toaster #3 and I can see why. So save your money and get back to basics with the Proctor Silex 22608 !
