(More customer reviews)I wanted a small convection toaster oven that does not take up much counter space and so that I would not have to heat up the house with my big oven. I also needed to get foods crisp which a microwave just can not do. I did not buy it for toast. I have a very good toaster for that.
This Euro Pro was my choice because it had the features I wanted such as a fan, variable temperature control, and a timer with auto shutoff. As with my regular big oven I have found that convection baking cooks faster and more evenly. That is why a fan was a must.
This little oven does exactly what I want it to do. I have tried frozen waffles, pizza and various other frozen snack foods. Everything came out golden brown and crisp. I found the fan to be fairly quiet, but the ticking on the timer is a little annoying. However, when I do not need the timer and auto shutoff, then I simply turn it to Stay-On. Except for the handle, the oven does get very hot. But that seems to be the case with most ovens.
I have never owned this brand before, so only time will tell how long it will last. Of course, with such a small price I do not mind replacing it every few years for an updated model.
The bottom line is to buy what meets your need. Do you need a larger toaster oven and have the counter space? Do you want to be able to heat or cook larger amounts of food? If that is what you want it for, then keep in mind that you have your big oven for those things. This little oven will do the job for most things and was a good choice for me.

Hamilton Beach 31160 6-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler, White Review

(More customer reviews)Apparently because this is a large, 6-slice toaster oven, the top heating elements in conjunction with the bottom elements would generate too much heat, and are therefore designed to stay off when toasting bread. Apparently the idea is that the bottom elements can generate enough radiant heat to bounce off the top inside of the unit to toast the top side of the bread. Thus it takes around five minutes for reasonably toasted toast -- far too long. Additionally, if you want to melt the cheese on top of your bread, you'll have to switch to broiler mode for about three minutes -- again, this takes far too much time when compared with my little old 2-slice toaster oven.

(More customer reviews)I went to buy this item at Walmart for $79.00 and lasted only for 5 months - the extractor fan stopped working so now everytime I heat something for 2 minutes (3 minutes and the oven overheats), the interior gets full of vapor, no way to use it normally, causing the microwave to overheat and turn off for several minutes. The customer service is useless - everytime I'd tried to call i get this final message '...all of our X are busy..., good bye' --- zero contact with a living person. To get it repaired you need to send it to California, and then pay $15 to get it back. Don't buy, be sure to check the brand you buy has a local service center.

(More customer reviews)Note: I was not able to change the rating from my first review which was based on a defective toaster. The new rating should be 5 stars. We've discovered the best bagel toaster ever!
In my first review I said I'd be back when KitchenAide sent a replacement toaster. Not only did the one I ordered from Amazon not toast, the stainless steel stained with fingerprints and smudges of all things. That was three weeks ago. The replacement came last week, and I'm quite satisfied with the new one. It does not retained smudges and fingerprints and, more important, it toasts just fine. I especially like the way it handles bagels -- crisp on the outside, toasted on the inside.
It still has a minor "problem" with English muffins which I don't understand, and buyers note that you have to use the "bagel setting: to toast English muffins. Still, they need a higher setting, perhaps because they're thinner than bagels and regularly sliced bread.
Why not 5 stars? Because it takes so long to toast anything, or seemingly so. Up to two minutes for some breads, not that I don't have two minutes to spare in my lifetime, but timing eggs and other breakfast items so that the toast is ready at the same time will take some getting used to.
How soon we forget: I can't remember how long it took to toast in a toaster over, so this may be unfair to KitchenAide. In fact, I'll go 4.5 stars because on top of the design (classic rather than full of gadgets - I half expected another timer and clock to be in the kitchen), it has really good stainless steel AND the sides remain cool even while toasting. Yep, 4.5 stars. What would it take for 5 stars? I miss the old "Ping!" when toast popped up on our last toaster. That was 35 years ago, so maybe that was my imagination.
One last and very important note: We did not return this toaster to Amazon. We wanted a toaster, so we called KitchAide, and KitchenAide deserves a 5 in customer relations. They sent a new toaster and a prepaid UPS return label. There were no questions, no third degree. Just good old-fashioned customer relations, and I do mean OLD-fashioned. (P.S. I rate very few companies for that kind of customer relations: the "new" Dell; Amazon; and now KitckenAide.)

I haven't turned my regular oven on since I purchased this one! I love that it fits a large frozen pizza, none of the other ovens I looked at even approached the versatility. The only compaint I have is the quality of the pans that came with the unit are mediocre, but I use my own and the oven itself works like a dream.

(More customer reviews)This toaster oven is perfect. I have had this oven for about 6 months and had enjoyed cooking meals in the summer months without heating up the entire house. I have even cooked a whole chicken in it. This oven cooks food evenly and I have had no problems with it at all. I highly recommend this product.
Update. I still have this toaster oven and use it almost everyday. I still absolutely love it and don't understand why everyone else seems to have issues with it. I don't know what I would do with out this oven. I have owned it for over 3 years and it still works perfect. I recently cooked a prime rib in it and it turned out fabulous.
